Privacy Policy

Browsing without an account

Free comic scenes and vocabulary are accessible without creating an account. When you browse without logging in:

• Your learning progress is stored locally on your device (localStorage)
• We don't track individual users or create user profiles
• No advertising cookies or cross-site tracking
• If you clear your browser data, your local progress is lost

When you create an account

If you sign up for an account, we collect and store:

• Email address: Used for login and account recovery. We may send important service updates but no marketing emails unless you opt in.
• Display name: Optional, shown in your profile.
• Learning progress: Vocabulary mastery levels, practice history, streak data, and personal notes you create.
• Subscription status: Whether you've unlocked premium content via Ko-fi.

Signing in with Google

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive:

• Your email address
• Your name (as set in your Google account)
• Your profile picture URL (optional, for display only)

We don't access your Google contacts, calendar, drive, or any other Google services. The connection is solely for authentication.

Ko-fi payments

When you support us via Ko-fi:

• Ko-fi processes all payments — we never see your card details
• We receive transaction details (email, amount) via Ko-fi webhook
• We store your supporter status in our database
• You can manually claim supporter status from your profile if needed

Cookies

We use minimal cookies:

• Authentication cookies: To keep you logged in across sessions. These are essential for account functionality.
• No advertising cookies: We don't use cookies for ads or tracking.
• No third-party analytics cookies: We may use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics in the future.

How we use your data

• To provide the learning service and sync your progress
• To verify your Ko-fi supporter status
• To send important service updates (rarely)
• To improve the product based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns

We do NOT:

• Sell your data to anyone
• Share your data with advertisers
• Use your data for targeted advertising
• Create profiles for marketing purposes

Where your data is stored

Your account data is stored securely on Supabase (our database provider) with servers in the EU/US. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We follow industry-standard security practices.

Managing your account

You have control over your data:

• View your data: Your profile page shows your stored information and learning progress.
• Delete your account: Contact us via Ko-fi to request account deletion. We'll permanently remove your account and all associated data within 30 days.

Data retention

We keep your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove all personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data (like total user counts) may be retained for analytics.

Children's privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as our service evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
