What is Survival in Germany?

Survival in Germany is a German language learning tool that teaches everyday German through comic scenes. We provide visual stories with audio, vocabulary, grammar notes, and cultural insights to help you navigate life in Germany.

Free and premium content

We offer a mix of free and premium content:

• Free comics: Selected comic scenes are completely free to access, including all dialogues, vocabulary, grammar, and culture notes.
• Premium comics: Additional comic scenes require a one-time contribution via Ko-fi to unlock. Once unlocked, you have permanent access.
• Vocabulary practice: All vocabulary cards and practice modes (flashcards, dictation) are free to use.

You may use this content for personal learning purposes. You may share links to our content. You may not copy, redistribute, or sell our content as your own.

User accounts

Creating an account is optional but recommended. With a free account, you can:

• Save your vocabulary progress across devices
• Track your learning streak
• Keep personal notes on words and scenes
• Unlock premium content via Ko-fi

You can sign up with email/password or Google. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

Payments via Ko-fi

Premium content is unlocked through Ko-fi contributions. When you support us:

• Your supporter status is linked to your account
• Premium content is unlocked permanently
• If your Ko-fi email differs from your account, you can claim your supporter status from your profile page

Ko-fi handles all payment processing. We never see your payment details.

Refunds

Ko-fi contributions are generally non-refundable as they're voluntary support payments. However, if you have issues accessing content you've paid for, contact us and we'll make it right. We want you to be happy with your learning experience.

Educational disclaimer

Our content is designed for language learning purposes. While we strive for accuracy:

• Language is living and regional variations exist
• What's appropriate depends on context and relationships
• Our scenarios are simplified for learning — real life is messier
• We're not responsible for any miscommunications that may occur

Use common sense and adapt what you learn to your specific situation. When in doubt, err on the side of formality (use “Sie”).

Be nice

If you interact with our community (suggestions, feedback, comments), please be respectful. We're all here to learn. We reserve the right to remove inappropriate content and suspend accounts that violate basic standards of decency.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our service evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or website. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
